In the last few years, pulsed light has become an indispensable technology in the medical and esthetic fields.
The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) equally named Flash lamp is a technology which replaces the lasers action in old age signs treatments (spots and wrinkles) and in permanent hair removal.
Instead of the laser, the IPL covers a wide scepter -from 400 to 1200 nanometers- allowing a much target reach of “chromophores”. Among them: melanin contained in hair or skin, oxyhemoglobin of localized rednesses and intradermic water. Each target corresponds to an appropriate wavelength.
Due to its various filters, the IPL device is highly effective in the following areas:
Permanent hair removal:
The IPL works directly with the melanin of all hair in the area targeted. The hair should be exposed to heat long enough in order to take action on the root stem and also on the bulb (reservoir of germinal cells programmed to make hair).
Photo-rejuvenation:
The IPL, intense pulsed light, stimulates superficial and median dermis’ fibroblast for their collagen and elastin production. This action allows a real reshaping of the skin while improving color, texture, and softness. The brown spots soften, the complexion lightens, the skin’s texture becomes finer and small wrinkles disappear.
Vascular and pigmental treatments:
The IPL treats mixed brown and red spots, solar lentigos, rednesses and rosaceas. Even though you do not have to use the IPL system to remove tattoos (apparition of hypertrophic scars).
